General
Pastor’s Bible Hour: How Should We Then Live?
Pastor Phil Winfield
Location: Worship Center
Let your light so shine before men… that they may see your good works…and glorify God. (Matthew 5:16) There is a way to shine for Jesus. There is a way to show our works; a way that results in God’s glory and not our own vain glory. Most of the New Testament is given to tell us just how to do that; how to live in a way that gives God glory and that blesses us along the way. In the study, “How then shall we live?” Pastor Phil is setting out on a in-depth study of the New Testament letters that are designed to do just that, tell us how to handle life with all of its “ups” and “downs” in such a way that people around us can know what God is like through us. Bring your Bible, your pencil and a hunger for the New Testament letters. NOTE: Tapes and CDs will be made available at the Resource Center for this series.
Teaching Adults with Confidence
Pastor Chris Eller
Location: ED101
Teaching Adults with Confidence is designed to provide in-depth training for those who are teaching the Bible to adults. Course sessions answer the following questions: Why is it important to teach adults? What are the characteristics of adults at various stages of life? How do adults learn and how should they be taught? What are the key principles for organizing and growing adult classes? (Optional textbook: $13.00)
Christian Ethics
Phil Carroll
Location: WC121A
There is a difference between "ethics" and "morals." Ethics do not change. Morals reflect the changing whims of culture. For the Christian, ethics must be rooted in the absolutes revealed in God's Word to inform and nurture our moral conduct. Followers of Christ must learn to think biblically. A Christian approach to complex ethical topics in the postmodern era challenges us to identify how we relate to culture. (Optional textbook: $13.00)
Grief Recovery Support Group
Pastor Chuck Morris
Location: WC 119
If you’ve lost someone close to you, or know someone who has, this class is for you. Our weekly GriefShare seminar/support group will meet in WC119 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. We know it hurts, and we want to help.
Will & Estate Planning
Phil Stovall
Location: WC118
Have you ever wondered whether you will need a will to provide for distribution of the property God has entrusted you with when God calls you home? Can I give to God through my estate? What about the care of my children? Do you have questions about inheritance taxes and probate costs? Can they be reduced or avoided entirely? These and other questions will be answered in the Will and Estate Planning Class. This class is limited to 25 people. Please register for this class at the Resource Center.
Women’s Ministry
Twelve Extraordinary Women
Kate Fetters & Lisa Fitzgerald
Location: ED100
Celebrated for their courage, vision, hospitality, and spiritual giftedness, it's no wonder women were so important to God's plan revealed in the Old and New Testaments. It wasn't their natural qualities that made these women extraordinary but the power of the one true God whom they worshipped and served. In Twelve Extraordinary Women, you'll learn more than fascinating information about these women, you'll discover-perhaps for the first time-the unmistakable chronology of God's redemptive work in history through their lives. These women were not ancillary to His plan, they were at the very heart of it. (Book available at the bookstore in the Atrium.)
