Point of Grace in Concert

Grace Church will feature Point of Grace in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, August 24 at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street, Des Moines.

Formed at Ouachita Baptist University in 1992 by four female students, the vocal group initially consisted of Denise Masters, Terry Lang and Heather Floyd, all from Norman, Okla., and Shelley Phillips, of Little Rock, Ark. Lang left the group in 2003 after her duties as a wife and mother became her main focus. She was replaced by Leigh Cappillino, the wife of guitarist Dana Cappillino, who had been a part of Point of Grace’s band. The first album on which Leigh sang as a full-time member was I Choose You, released in October 2004.

Point of Grace has toured with 4Him, Watermark, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, The Katinas, FFH, Charity Von and Scott Krippayne.

In 2003, Point of Grace released its ninth album, 24, a compilation of the group’s 24 No. 1 radio singles. The string of hits began in 1993 with “I’ll Be Believing.” In August 2002, the group released an album, The Girls of Grace, and that October the first Girls of Grace conference was held, at which the members discussed with conference participants self-esteem, sex, family issues, friendships and relationships with God.

The group's latest album, How You Live, was released in August 2007. It feature the songs “All the World,” “You Are Good” and “Heal the Wound.”
