Phil has been associated with Grace Church since 1984. In the early days, he served as co-pastor along with Pastor David Nelms. Phil left Grace in 1989 to serve as a missionary in Peru, S.A. and returned in 2001 to lead as the Senior Pastor.
Pastor Phil and his wife Bonnie have three adult children (Phillip, Sherri and Amber) who are all married with children of their own.
Kirby joined the pastoral staff of Grace Church in March 2015. As Administrative Pastor, Kirby provides oversight of the administrativeand office operations, facilities, financial and business management of Grace Church.
Prior to joining Grace, Kirby served as an Elder at Fellowship Community Church in Norwalk and worked as a financial consultant in the financial services industry for 25 years.
Kirby and his wife, Pam, have been married since June 1993 and have two children, Micah and Lydia.
Matt joined the pastoral staff of Grace Church in the summer of 2016. His call is to teach, shepherd, train, and mobilize young adults to follow Christ and to serve Him in the Church and in the world.
Matt is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds a Master's Degree in Christian Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In his spare time, Matt enjoys reading, drinking coffee with friends, and spending time with his family. He is happily married to Kacy and has one son - Zeke.
Brien joined Grace staff in 2015. He has a passion for partnering with parents in teaching kids the gospel of Christ. He taught fifth and sixth graders in a Christian school near Denver, CO, for nine years and served as family and children’s pastor near Detroit, Michigan, for eight years. He has also served at Lake Ann Camp in Michigan in the summers since 1998 as a counselor, program director, and speaker.
Brien and his wife, Dawn, were married in Oskaloosa, IA, in 1998. They have five children: Victoria (’02), Braeden (’04), Ethen (’06), Caroline (09), and Annalise (’12). As a family, they enjoy outdoor activities like biking, camping, swimming, and sledding.
Marty joined the staff of Grace Church in 1997 and served for six years as Worship Pastor. After having served in churches in Florida, North Carolina, and Ankeny, Iowa, for nine years, he returned to Grace in 2012. Marty has served in a number of music and arts roles as well. He served as Music Administrator for Tennessee Temple Schools and Grace Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He also served as orchestra director and teacher for Cadec Conservatory of Music (University of Tennessee) in Chattanooga, and founded and led the Grace Institute of Music, also in Chattanooga.
Marty and His wife, Sheila, have been married since August of 1981. They have three children and two grandchildren. All of their children know the Lord and are serving Him faithfully.
Shawn has been on staff at Grace Church since 2006. He has a passion for people and ministry. The key words to describe Shawn's role at Grace are "first steps". He helps new believers take their first steps of faith by making a public profession of their faith by getting baptized. He also helps newcomers take their first steps in becoming a part of our local body of believers.
Shawn attended Grace Evangelical Ministry School and received a certificate of Church Leadership. He also graduated from the National Pastors' Training Course with a Bible Certificate. He and his wife, Joan, have two adult children, Katie & Phillip, and two grandchildren.
Greg joined the Grace Church staff in 2010 and serves as the Pastor of Adult Ministries, overseeing the teaching and discipleship ministries for adult believers at Grace with the goal of helping them grow toward Christ-like maturity.
Greg was born in Ohio but has lived in Iowa since 1986. He married Christy, his wonderful partner in ministry, in 1997, and they have two children, Nathan and Andrew. He has a B.A. in Pastoral Studies and an M.Div. from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as an Ed.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In his spare time Greg enjoys reading (books, blogs, etc.), watching sports, bicycling, and spending time with his family.
Jonathan began working for Grace in 2003 and serves as the Pastor of Senior High Ministry. His passion is to impact students, train volunteers, and multiply leaders through speaking, teaching, training, coaching, and writing. He has strategically invested most of his adult life in students. Jonathan is the founder and director of Ignite Youth Leadership Conference, a training ministry that seeks to encourage and equip youth workers by bringing them interactive, Bible-based training, and is currently working on “The Pelogos Project” to help students and families think theologically and live intentionally.
Jonathan is a graduate of Baptist Bible College, PA., Faith Baptist Theological Seminary, and holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is happily married to Kim (also a graduate of Baptist Bible College) and has three children - Emilie, Isaac & Anna Grace.
Chuck grew up in Indianola, went to High School at Grandview Park Baptist School, and after college, began serving at Grace Church in 1987. Since then, he has had various roles within our church. The position he presently serves in is Pastor of Congregational Care and Missions. Chuck has a beautiful wife named Sue and he also has two wonderful kids, Zach and Hannah and two grandkids, Micah and Reagan.
Marcus began working at Grace Church in November of 2015. He married Stephanie on August 10, 2013. They both graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Spokane, WA, where Marcus received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Youth Ministry. Marcus was born and raised in Nebraska. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, reading, board games and playing guitar.
Ahnada Stephenson has always loved working with children. She has been teaching in school settings since 2005, and she began working at Grace Church as the Children's Director in August, 2013. Her primary duties are to oversee all programs, nursery through preschool, and to help with elementary curriculum.
Ahnada has a BA degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Graceland University. She and her husband, Dean, have been married since October 14, 2006; They have two daughters, Anberlin and Juliana.
Dean has been the Communications Director at Grace since 2007 and his role includes print publications, web & social media management, and videography.
Dean grew up in Martensdale, IA, and received a Commercial Art degree at Des Moines Area Community College in 2003. He returned to DMACC in 2016 and received a Video Production certificate.
