Phil Winfield | Senior Pastor
Phil Winfield has been associated with Grace Church since 1984. For five years he served as co-Pastor to Pastor David Nelms. For 13 years he, his wife Bonnie, and his three children were sent from Grace to Lima, Peru as missionaries where they served together as church planters. Just before the events of 9/11 in 2001 Phil and Bonnie returned to Des Moines where Phil became the Sr. Pastor. Phil leads the church through the ministry of the Word of God and prayerfully seeking the vision God has for His people. God has allowed the passion of a missionary evangelist to continue to burn in Phil's heart as he desires to see many more come to faith and more churches planted. It is his joy to continue to minister in Peru through frequent trips for evangelism and pastor training. Phil loves all things outdoors, woodworking and spending time with family.
Matt Agee | Young Adult Pastor
Matt Agee has served as Pastor of Young Adults since August of 2016. He grew up in a Christian home and believed the gospel at 10 years old. He served at a church in Charlotte, North Carolina before coming to Des Moines. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for undergrad and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary for his Master's Degree. Matt loves teaching God's Word and discipling young adults. He also loves Alabama football, good coffee, and spending time with his family. Matt is married to Kacy and they have two children, Zeke and Hattie.
Marty Kelly | Worship Pastor
Marty Kelly is the Worship and Missions Pastor at Grace Church. He was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina and attended Grace Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as a teenager. Upon graduation from High School, Marty moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he attended Tennessee Temple University and the University of Tennessee. Marty and his wife, Sheila joined the ministry team at Grace Church the first time in the spring of 1997 and served for 6 years. After having moved to Florida for a few years, Marty and his family returned back to Iowa, eventually returning to Grace Church where he has served again as Worship Pastor for the past 6+ years. In the summer of 2017, Marty began serving in Missions as well as overseeing the Worship Ministry at Grace. Marty’s passion is seeing people come to know Christ and to worship Him.
Greg Long | Adult Ministry Pastor
Greg Long was born in Toledo, Ohio (go Buckeyes!) and came to know Christ as Savior at a young age. God called him to pastoral ministry after graduating from high school, and he received his B.A. and M.Div. from Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary. This is also where he met his wonderful wife, Christy, and together they have two boys Nathan and Andrew. Greg has also earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has ministered in various pastoral roles for twenty years in three different churches and has served at Grace as the Pastor of Adult Ministries since 2010. He enjoys spending time with family, keeping up on theological trends, watching sports on TV, exercising, eating sweets, and drinking coffee.
Ahnada Stephenson | Early Childhood Director
Ahnada Stephenson has always loved working with children. She has been teaching in school settings since 2005, and she began working at Grace Church as the Children's Director in August 2013. Her primary duties are to oversee all programs, nursery through preschool, and to help with elementary curriculum. Ahnada has a BA degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Graceland University. She and her husband, Dean, have been married since October 14, 2006; They have two daughters, Anberlin and Juliana.
Kirby VanNausdle | Administrative Pastor
Kirby VanNausdle is a Des Moines native and also lived in the Southwest. Upon hearing a gospel message during an Easter service, he realized he was separated from God by sin and in need of a Savior. He made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ in April 1978. Soon thereafter, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord in any role as God would lead. In February 2015, Kirby transitioned from a seasoned career in financial services to full-time ministry at Grace Church. Along with a dedicated staff, Kirby oversees the day to day operations of Grace Church as Administration Pastor through financial management, office administration and coordination of Grace’s facilities. Kirby and Pam were married in 1993 and have two grown children. Kirby enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and bird hunting.
Brien Brough | Children's Pastor
Brien Brough joined Grace staff in 2015. Brien has a passion for joining parents in pointing kids to Jesus. He was an elementary school teacher for nine years then began serving as a kids’ pastor in 2007. He and his wife, Dawn, were married in Oskaloosa, IA, in 1998. They have five children: Victoria, Braeden, Ethen, Caroline, and Annalise. As a family, they enjoy biking, camping, swimming, sledding, and playing with their dog, Oliver. Brien’s primary roles at Grace involve partnering with parents, training leaders, and teaching children. He desires for KidsTown at Grace to bring glory to God as His Word is taught to the kids.
Shawn Kinnison | Community Life Pastor
Shawn Kinnison has been on staff at Grace Church since 2006. He has a passion for people and ministry. The key words to describe Shawn's role at Grace are "first steps". He helps new believers take their first steps of faith by making a public profession of their faith by getting baptized. He also helps newcomers take their first steps in becoming a part of our local body of believers.
Jonathan Meyer | Sr. High Pastor
Jonathan Meyer was blessed to grow up right here in Des Moines, IA and at the age of five, he made a profession of faith. At age 12 he was at camp and dedicated his life to the Lord even though he had no idea where that would lead. While in Bible College at Summit University, he began to develop a love for students and a call to that age group. Upon graduation, he ended serving as an Assistant Pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa IA for 9 years. In 2003 God called him and his wife Kim to Grace Church where he still serves in his current role as High School Pastor. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Summit University, and Master’s Degrees from Faith Baptist Seminary and Dallas Theological Seminary. Jonathan enjoys basketball, motorcycles, anything “outdoors” and spending time with his wife, Kim, and his family: Emilie, Isaac and Anna Grace.
